Emergency kit for childcare

As a childcare centre, the children’s safety is our number one priority. In emergencies, such as a fire, we must be able to act quickly and effectively. Well-thought-out emergency equipment for childcare centres is therefore essential. Not only to keep the children safe, but also the staff working at the centre. Special aids are required for the safe and efficient evacuation of babies and toddlers. The Baby-Mover® offers a solution in situations such as these. On this page, you can read more about our products and how they can help.

What is an emergency kit?

To safely evacuate (young) children and babies in emergency situations, you need a comprehensive and complete emergency kit that ensures you are prepared for any situation. But what exactly is an emergency kit and what does it include? A complete emergency kit consists of more than just a first-aid box. It might include the following items:

  • Emergency plans and floor plans: a clear emergency plan or evacuation plan showing emergency exits, assembly points and escape routes can save staff precious seconds. Displaying floor plans in visible locations throughout the building also enables the emergency services to respond more quickly.
  • Torches In the event of a fire or power cut, it can suddenly become very dark. By keeping a torch within easy reach, you can find your way safely, even without daylight.
  • Fire-fighting equipment: a small fire can quickly turn into a major blaze if left unchecked. With fire-fighting equipment such as a fire extinguisher or fire blanket, small fires can be put out, thereby clearing a path and preventing a larger fire from breaking out.
  • Warm blankets: in cold and wet weather, children can quickly lose body heat. A warm blanket helps children to maintain their body temperature.
  • Attendance register Keeping track of the situation during an emergency is crucial. By knowing exactly which children are present that day – ideally both digitally and on paper – it is possible to check accurately whether all children have been brought to safety. This is therefore an essential item in any childcare centre’s emergency kit.
  • Evacuation aids: there are handy and life-saving evacuation aids available for the actual evacuation of children themselves. Our Baby-Mover® and Newborn Baby-Mover® are good examples of this. When there are children present who cannot yet walk unaided, they can be carried in our handy evacuation apron. This saves valuable time and even leaves the carrier with hands free to carry out other important tasks.

Baby-Mover® in your emergency kit

Our unique evacuation aid distributes the weight, keeps your hands free and enables a quick and safe evacuation. For the very youngest, we have the Newborn Baby-Mover®. Our aids are not only practical but are now used worldwide.
