Evacuation aids for children

When an emergency arises, every second counts. When children who cannot yet walk on their own are present, effective evacuation aids for children are vital. Whether it’s a daycare center, elementary school, or healthcare facility: having the right tools can save lives and prevent panic.

Why evacuation aids for children?

In emergency situations, children are extremely vulnerable and dependent on guidance. In the event of a fire, smoke, or other emergencies, it is crucial that multiple children can be safely evacuated quickly. Fortunately, there are now various childcare evacuation aids specifically designed to assist with this. Baby-Mover®’s tools are designed with the following in mind:

Safety: Children are carried close to the body or transported safely.

Speed: Unnecessary delays can be avoided by transporting multiple children at the same time.

Calm and clarity: Having good resources available can prevent panic in both children and caregivers.

Having Baby-Mover® evacuation aids is therefore essential for the safe evacuation of children. This applies to organizations such as daycare centers, after-school care facilities, elementary schools, preschool playgroups, and more. Wherever (young) children are involved, it is crucial to be well-prepared for a safe evacuation. This is especially important because children are more likely to lose control or freeze in fear when panicked. A clear evacuation system helps with this!

Baby-Mover® Evacuation Aid

Our evacuation aid, the Baby-Mover®, consists of three pockets, positioned on both sides and the front of the apron. These three pockets are secured with reinforced seams and made of a sturdy, flame-retardant fabric. The Baby-Mover® has been repeatedly tested in laboratories and is therefore ideally suited for all evacuation plans in childcare settings. The apron is easy to put on: just like a T-shirt, you pull the Baby-Mover over your head. By keeping the Baby-Mover® within reach during emergencies, you’ll have your hands free to perform important tasks while evacuating.

As with any good safety tool, a well-thought-out evacuation plan and regular drills are just as important. After all, it’s crucial that all employees are familiar with the safety tools and know what to do in an emergency.

Tip: Try to involve children in evacuation drills in a playful way. That way, they’ll also know what’s expected of them in an emergency.
